I Posted!!!!!!!!!!

by Maisa

Hey dear all!!!!!

I just got home, after a very long day and I decided to take a look here just to check out news from my Holm’ friends …. Jona, I have to admit that you made me feel so bad since I haven’t posted for a while!!!!!! SORRY …… but here comes the very long explanation why did that happen… hahahah

Today I took my last final exam …. And guess what? VALUATION, YES! For this time, no skiing trip …. no skipping exam, nothing …. I did have to take it and I had to get a pass soooooo, my whole weekend was about studying, studying valuation …. Pretty boring I could say!

Besides that, school had been very busy in the past few weeks … lots of assignments, projects and all those very boring stuffs …. Yes guys! Where is the very easy going Maisa …. Hahahaah … the one that didn’t care at all about school! I’ve been missing her SO MUCH! Hahaha

But finally, I’m on vacation …. At least from school …. Then comes the other reason why I’ve been so damned busy lately …

In April, I applied for an intern at UBS. Poor girl ….!!!!! It’s at the IB department ….. first I was very excited even if this opportunity came totally out of the blue … seriously, I had never thought before about working in an IB department until a friend of mine sent my CV to UBS (he actually works there), then after three days of thousands of interviews, they hired me as an intern …. I had no time to think about it, I just sad yes and told my former boss about the news!!!!!! This happen like three months ago and since then I’ve been sooooooooooooo busy! First I thought that they couldn’t have that much to do ….. but after one day there …. I actually found out that they not only could but they do have a terrible workload. Besides the crazy schedule, once I’m working there and attending school at the same time …. It’s been a time for learning a lot, and I’m enjoying it!!!!!!!! Of course sometimes I get sooooo tired that I’m not sure anymore if I wanna keep going with this bizarre schedule …… but I feel that I’m learning how to handle it ……………

Besides all this crazy stuffs … I’m GREAT!!!!!!! ……..We’ve been having a great time during the Worl Cup here …. Soccer is the only think that it’s able to stop every single Brazilian, it’s impressive. Even UBS stops …. Hahaahahah!!!!!!! (I know, it’s hard to believe!!!!!!!!) …… so, every time that Brazil is playing …. We go to somewhere with a bunch of friends to watch the match, and it’s time for drinking and cheering …… just having fun ….. and sometimes getting very nervous (specially in those two first games, that Brazil didn’t play that well, at all….. hahahaah)….. it’s amazing …. I mean …. The whole country is wearing green and yellow and cheering for Brazil, it’s been a great time around here!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I can’t imagine the atmosphere in German … must be really exciting ( and I wanna hear about it!!!!! Hahahahaha)…………I wish I was there!!!!!!!!!.

All in all …. Life is been pretty nice down here ….. just missing HOLM and all my good friends!!!!!!!!!! That’s a great and unique time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take care dear all ….. and post it!!!! It’s so nice to hear a bit about everybody’s life!!!!!
Kisses kisses ….

Life after Sthlm AND Cph...

By Jonathan

Hi Folks!

I don’t have a fancy birthday party to rightly brag about, and I haven’t been back to or left Stockholm since December 19th. Nevertheless, my bad conscience has finally caught up to me, and I have decided it is time to update you all on life in and around Copenhagen! So you have been warned, and everybody indifferent may as well stop reading now in the spirit of efficiency.

Spring was rather busy from my side, and not particularly interesting (even to me) – partying, working, studying, and applying for jobs. The highlights include finishing my last courses at CBS: I will neither miss school, nor studying for exams. Just one little thesis to go. So now I’m working at full speed (at least when there are no world cup games on TV) to finish that thesis thing. Probably won’t happen by September, but at least we are going to give it a try. We are valuing a couple of private equity buyouts in emerging markets for some institutional investors. Interesting – probably not. But hopefully more so than the alternatives ☺. If anybody has insights, feel free to forward…

Distractions are therefore more than welcome, so yesterday I went see a stand up show that got amazing reviews, but unfortunately I found it rather disappointing. Today I was out sailing on Øresund with a couple of friends – firmly believing that a rested mind is much more efficient ☺. But maybe not if you drink beer at the same time. Oh, well. I also had a lot of plans for the summer, but given the pressure to finish the big T I’m cutting it down to three weeks in Canada with my family in July/August. Winnipeg to Calgary. Anybody knows what to look for there (except for trees and prairie)? Anybody else planning on being in that neighbourhood? Maybe I’ll also try to squeeze in a weekend trip to somewhere in Europe, but prospects not looking too good at the moment.

On the job front it was positive to see that more than one company was actually willing to pay for this profile that a lot of us have been working to build up. Last week I decided to go ahead with an offer to join the graduate programme at Danish company called Vestas– the worldwide leader in wind turbines. It wasn’t the most obvious choice, but they made a really good impression. The programme involves three rotations of 8 months– the first in Denmark (Randers, to be specific), and as of May 2007 Portland, Barcelona, Singapore, or Beijing. The last rotation can be anywhere, hopefully on another continent. As if you cared ;-).

Anyways, we are four graduates starting In Randers. I’m one. Then there is a German dude and another Danish fellow. And the last one? Our friend the Great Polish Player. With 800 applicants, seven jobs in Denmark and four in Randers I figure the odds are roughly 0.0000001564:1 using random sampling. Or maybe not, but I hold that it is lucky. So obviously it couldn’t be much cooler. Especially since Randers is in the other side of the country (I know DK is not that big, but come on we’re not that small either!). Since three of the four HQ graduates are moving there for the job, they are going to provide us with an apartment or a house. So on top of being friends, it looks like tomek and I will also be colleagues and flatmates – at least between September and May. I might have to get a couple of earplugs for emergencies though. Sorry, tomasz ☺. They tell us there will be an extra room in the flat, so no excuses are good enough to avoid paying us a visit!

I think that’s all for now. I’m going to get back to working on the damn thesis, so I can end this academic career and move on to real life ☺. How is everybody else doing? A lot of folks haven’t been posting in a while (or ever!!!). So (to use a simple, Danish expression): Get your finger out of the gas chamber and let us know what you are up to! At least send a comment and a shoutout!

Happy summer and happy world cup! May the second best team win (since we're not playing)...

All the best,

Jonathan!

Finally back!!

By Guillaume...

Qué onda! Hej guys how r u all? It had been a long time since I posted my last message in this blog; so I'll try to make up for it by writing a little bit about my last weeks in Europe :( and first days back in México.

My last days in Sthlm were crazy, it was pretty much partying everynight (u know that almost NEVER happen in Sthlm). The school organized the traditional Crayfish party just the weekend before I had to fly back home. It was all about singing traditional swedish songs, eating crayfish (duuh!) and drinking... just a little bit. So we all started to drink responsibly of course but before we realized it we were soo drunk... I don't remember how I came back home! I just have some flashes of it, which is kindda strange on me, I usually remember everything. It wasn't until next day when I was told we almost lost the train because of me and some friends that we were throwing beer, champagne and vodka on us just next to the cliff (u know where we took many pics last year) and that some friends had got lost but fortunately made it back to the cabin. The thing is I didn't drink that much! or at least not that I remember hehe. After that I had a surprise bon voyage party on Sunday, that was pretty cool, I enjoyed it a lot, although I was kind of sad. The last days went just flying as I had a million last minute things to do as usually. On the way back I was dying, I forgot how long those flights can be!! 10 freakin hours in a plane just next to a baby that wouldn't stop crying!! I was going to kill him!! Fortunately I managed to control myself and arrived in Mexico city safely.

Here I had my first real party last weekend where I got to see a lot of friends and people I know, I really enjoyed it, and no... I wasn't drunk... I was just.... ahem... faking it of course...
Life's here seems weird, on one hand it seems like not much changed, but being back to "normal" life does feel odd, I guess you all had to go through that as well. Now I am doing a summer programme and will try to get a job, we'll see how it goes. Before I finish this post I want to show you this pic, I couldn't find one where we can see all of us together, is there such a picture? I have the full resolution one if you want it, I will also try to do a better one later, once my freakin computer stops to freeze everytime I turn it on. Hope to hear from you all soon, take care everyone and let's stay in touch!
